August 8th is a special day for our feline friends: it’s International Cat Day! While we think kitties should be celebrated every day, this is a purrfect time to show Fluffy some extra TLC, and score yourself some purrs and kitty cuddles. A Virginia Beach, VA vet lists some great ways to brighten up your furry pal’s day below.
A special snack is a wonderful way to get your kitty’s motor going. A can of tuna in water will do nicely. Fluffy can also enjoy some plain deli meat, or some unseasoned, cooked fish or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat. Store-bought treats are also fine.
Comfy napping spots are one of life’s greatest luxuries, as far as our feline friends are concerned. (Of course, Fluffy may also fall asleep in a shoebox, but that’s another topic.) Get your drowsy pet a new bed to look adorable on. You can also make one. Look online for ideas and instructions.
Kitties are very playful by nature, which is one of the reasons they’re such fun little pets. Watching Fluffy’s silly antics can be highly entertaining! Get your furry pal a new toy, and take some time to play with her. This is bound to put a smile on your face!
There’s no such thing as too many cute cat photos. You can always just snap a pic of Fluffy being her adorable self. Or, try to get some more professional photos. Experiment with different apps and effects.
Our feline overlords are always cute, but they somehow manage to be extra adorable when they’re enjoying some catnip. Get your playful pet a new catnip toy. Or, better yet, buy or plant a small container of fresh catnip. If your furry friend is among the roughly 30 percent of cats who aren’t susceptible to catnip, try honeysuckle. Many kitties that don’t care for catnip do enjoy honeysuckle. (Note: this is one of the many things we may never quite understand about Fluffy.)
Kitties have tried very hard to make us think that they’re cold and aloof, but we’re not buying it. Fluffy is actually very emotional. Pay lots of attention to your furry buddy on her special day. There are few things more precious than a cat’s love!
