National Cat Day

October 15, 2021

There’s a pretty special holiday coming up: National Cat Day is October 29th! While we think our feline friends should be celebrated every day, this is a purrfect time to show Fluffy some extra TLC, and get her little motor going. A Virginia Beach,VA vet suggests some things to put on your to-do list in this article.

New Toy

Did you know that playing with your cat is one of the best things you can do for her? Play sessions benefit kitties both mentally and physically. They’re also really cute to watch!

Treats

Treats are the perfect way to celebrate any pet holiday. A can of plain tuna in water is fine, but you can also give Fluffy shredded deli meat or some plain, cooked meat, fish, or chicken, without the skin, bones, or fat.

New Bed

If there was one surefire way to please your furry buddy, this would be it. It doesn’t matter if Fluffy already has plenty of beds. As far as kitties are concerned, there’s no such thing as too many napping spots!

Cardboard Box

Who says cats have expensive tastes? A cardboard box is one of the best things ever as far as Fluffy is concerned.

Catnip

Fluffy has many adorable traits, but one of the cutest is the way she goes bananas for this curious plant. Get your frisky pet some fresh ‘nip to play with. Your feline buddy may also enjoy some cat grass or wheat grass.

Grooming

Kitties are very clean, which is definitely a huge plus to having them as pets. Fluffy will spend as much as a third of her waking time carefully grooming herself. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t use some help. Brushing your cat will not only make her feel pampered, it’s also a good chance to check for lumps, bumps, or other signs of trouble.

Photo Session

Fluffy takes some adorable photos. Snap some cute pics of your furry friend! If possible, try to get your pet’s picture in a spot that contrasts with her coat. Of course, if you have a black cat, you may want to go the opposite route. Go to a dark area, and get a ‘void kitty’ picture that only show’s your feline pal’s eyes.
