Owner of Barker Animal Hospital. Dr. Barker graduated with a B.S. in Agribusiness in 2003 from Arizona State University. She obtained her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, completing her clinical year at Texas A&M University. She previously served as a member of the city of Chesapeake's Animal Advisory Board.
After practicing small animal medicine for eight years in Ohio, she and her family moved to Chesapeake, Virginia to pursue an opportunity to open a small animal hospital. Dr. Barker believes strongly in preventative medicine and creating positive veterinary experiences for her clients and their pets.
Dr. Barker and her husband have two children, a three legged cat 'Kitty', and a boston terrier 'Phoenix'. She looks forward to meeting your pets and providing the community valuable, quality veterinary services.
Dr. Angela Oswald was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She completed her final prerequesites for veterinary school at Valdosta State University. She graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She practiced in Florida until moving to Virginia at the end of 2016. She particularly enjoys surgery/dentistry and feline internal medicine.
Her husband is in the US Navy which is what brought them to Virginia. Dr. Oswald and her husband have four children, three cats, and two dogs. Her personal interests include spending time with her family, jogging and playing tennis.
She is very excited to become part of our team and can't wait to meet you and your four-legged family members!
Dr. Nelson received her B.S in Animal Science from North Carolina State University in 2007. She then went on to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM in 2011. She finished up her clinical rotation at Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine. After living in Currituck, NC, she relocated back to the Chesapeake area around 1.5 years ago with her husband who is in the navy. Dr. Nelson and her husband have one daughter, Violet, and one pup, Carib. She loves spending time outside and on the water with her friends and family. She is very excited to be a part of our practice to help care for all of our wonderful patients!
