Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions for 2023? Your feline pal will be right there with you as you work towards your objectives. And while Fluffy will probably sleep through most of the year, she does have a few things to scratch off her to-do list. A Virginia Beach, VA vet lists some of them below.
Kitties may be collectively exhausted but even the laziest feline gets the zoomies occasionally. Fluffy also tries to get at least a little activity in every day, even if it’s only by suddenly racing across the room for no apparent reason. Your furry pal may want to increase her sprint speed, jump higher, or perhaps master that tricky run/jump/roll combination.
Life is about growing and changing, even for kitties. Fluffy may want to stretch her horizons this year. She may want to try different napping places or positions, or perhaps revisit the expensive cat tower she ignores.
Cats like to closely monitor everything that is going on around them and will investigate absolutely everything and anything in their territories. Fluffy may decide to be a bit more proactive about ‘supervising’ you.
Kitties are very good at wrapping their humans around their cute little paws. If your feline overlord doesn’t have you trained to feed or pet her on demand yet, she’ll probably work on that this year.
Most cats are purrfectly happy to spend most of their time doing nothing. However, Fluffy will occasionally feel bad about not being more useful. She may rectify this by helping you change sheets, wrap gifts, or fold laundry.
Let’s not forget that our feline friends are actually very formidable predators. Playing allows Fluffy to practice her tiger skills. It also keeps her fit, happy, and (hopefully) out of mischief. Offer your kitty plenty of fun toys, and take time to play with her every day.
Fluffy has a reputation for being aloof, but that isn’t really fair. Cats can be extremely cuddly at times! (Your furry friend may demand attention while you’re busy and ignore you when you’re watching TV, but that’s just purr for the curse.)
Happy New Year from Barker Animal Hospital, your Virginia Beach, VA pet clinic. We look forward to providing top notch care in 2023 and beyond!
